DESCRIPTION

Cold forming is a process of metal deformation in which cut wire of a particular length is deformed at room temperature. They are then inserted into steel or hard metal dies arranged in two or more consecutive stations.

This process is carried out by applying very high pressures that deform them beyond their yield point yet do not reach their breaking point. In this way they can obtain a great amount of identical and highly complex pieces, having barely wasted any material, extremely quickly and cost efficiently.

Ready in all stations they cover a range of operations that includes the entire cold forming process. From cutting, extruding, stressing, or even expelling the piece there is a punch for every operation. Each punch is specifically adapted with the optimal shape, material, and coating for any and every need.

The tolerances must be in accordance with the product that we are to obtain, with the possibility of even reaching +/- 0.005. The material used could be hard metal or steel with the ability to use any caliber of hard metal or type of steel; specialty, fast, powder metallurgic, etcetera. In this way it’s possible to utilize the material best suited for the process for which they will be used and have optimal functionality. Along with the type of material and shape, the surface finish is of vital importance -in PLUSDUR in the range of Ra0.5- which will decisively influence the life of the tool. Later on it can improve the features of the tool by means of applying a coating, in it’s different modes. Each coating -TiN, TiAlN, AlCrN, DLC- amongst others, contributes specific additional qualities to the tool. PIERCING PUNCH

Material pierced by shear stress. It is important to keep the integrity of the piercing edges along with enduing the punch with the highest possible hardness to prevent premature wear.

EXTRUSION PUNCH

Back extrusion or stamping process where the goal is to minimize the coefficient of friction while improving the creep of material. Doing so the torsion stress gets reduced.

_ Coating: TIN / TIALN / AlCrN / DLC

STANDARD PUNCHES AND EJECTOR PINS

This kind of tooling is not under high stress and the geometrical complexity is standard.

CALIBRATION PUNCH

The main requirement of these punches is their geometrical integrity. High hardness and a reduced coefficient of friction are the main features.

UPSETTING PUNCH
